5 out of 5 stars Great film for all Thomas fans young or old!   April 24, 2010

Thomas & Friends - Hero Of The Rails [DVD] [2009]

A really good film for all the family, girls, boys, young or old. Kept us all entertained for the duration which is no mean feat for a two and three year old with minimal attention spans.
In this feature length film, Thomas stumbles across a new friend 'Hiro' who needs his help - Thomas enlists the help of his trusted friends back at Tidmouth sheds to get Hiro back on the rails after years rusting in a siding all alone. The problem is they must not let nosey old Spencer find out as he will tell the fat controller and Hiro might get scrapped! Fun and games ensue as they all work together to get the parts, narrowly escaping run-ins with both Spencer and the Fat Contoller too. Percy even manages to lose his mail trucks in all the drama.
Guaranteed to be watched over and over again until little Thomas runs out of steam!

1 out of 5 stars Ruined&killed off Thomas the Tank Engine&whole point of it !!Just leave alone whats not broke dont try to fix.   March 3, 2010

Mortified!! beyond belief,,i cant even b in the same room when its on,Honestly its that bad4me the voices acting arggh!!the Voices are pathetic esp Thomas& i cant get some of the phrases out of my head unfort ie,"but i dont know where I am" thomas new voice says in very extreme poor poor acting..Cheesy&very lame..The whole point of Thomas what it was all bout.. wooden real little trains&scenery creating magic&something differnt that stood out from the rest(legoland)..(tho even postman pat has gone computer generated)

My 3year old first accidently got watching a thomas episode when he was around year old&has not looked back since abs loves2much luckily for me my middle one who was obsessed with it&eldest(tho not as much) so had plenty of handme downs..vhs dvds trains(tho now got whole island of sodor&expensive obbession i must add but he is happy)..and i have to say lookin back at them all(vhs dvds)the first ever one and the originals with ringo star are def the best.. and roll on when they had differnt voices and percy his own accent.. and my son has loads cupboard full&never tires watching them all over&over everyday1thomas dvd at least(much2my other2dismays)

My son finds this dvd funny and was the trailer on amazon that he laughed at spencer as he thought was "weird" but does enjoy it and has watched it alot since xmas(tho not as much as great discovery or others)but to every1else(including my2other children who happily sit and watch thomas to)the film is in their words "Rubbish" weird, and not at all thomas"... im sure all young children will love, and lets face it thomas mad infants esp my 3year old loves anything that has anything remotely slightly to do with Thomas..

But i really really really hope that they havent totally killed off the little wooden train etc... to much computerisation and cartoons.. Thomas was unique and treasurable hope its kept that way? and i thought the great discovery narrated by Pierce Bronsen was bad omg that is heaven compared to this..and oh but this dvd is no where as bad as the american film version arrghh!! just leave things alone Please!! dont buy this stick to original thomas loads out there and on amazon and ebay to keep ur little one goin till outgrows it ..i understand modernisation but this really really doesnt need that.. take away what it was and u left with nothing.. as for the cold comment made on the original thomas i find this dvd cartoon version cold and just another kids cartoon lost in the crowd&the something unique, pleasure&different gone...&if u do buy I hope the nostalgic that is lost and voices and poor computerisation and creepiness grates on u 2 (i hope lol) u have been warned...
