Take Along Thomas Curved & Straight Track Pad April 26, 2010 Diana (Co Durham, England) For the price this is a very good toy. The engine is battery operated, although my young grandson Stephen, aged three, likes to just push it around the track. The Thomas engine at first appeared a little flimsy. However, after much battering and playing with, it is still chugging along just fine. It comes with a signal an 'opening' bridge and a station. You can also change the direction of Thomas with a little lever in the track. The thing I liked most about it was that the tracks do not fall apart, as in other train sets that I have seen.
A great addition January 31, 2010 V. Humphries 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Brought this for my 4yr old son who already has some "take-along" thomas sets. A great way to get some additional track.
This is played with everyday. A great buy
Great track options November 17, 2009 Mrs. Penelope Harvey (Middlesex) 2 out of 2 found this review helpful
As an addition to a basic Take Along kit this extra set of track is a must. The track options are boundless.
Works perfectly and doesn't fall apart! September 23, 2009 DangermouseZilla (Doncaster, Yorkshire, UK.) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
I've experienced so many tracks for trains and cars which once assembled start to come apart when in use. This can be frustrating for very young children as they have to keep 'repairing' the track and it interrupts play. But this clicks together and stays together - even on thick carpet (where other tracks seem to really struggle) this stays in place.
This is the perfect accompaniment to the Take Along Thomas trains as, like those models, it is extremely sturdy and will easily survive the rigours of toddler daily play!
The track forms a rather unexciting shape but play is only limited by imagination and the trains run smoothly on it and don't jar on any joins. As the other reviewers have said, it comes with adaptors so that it can be used with the old-style track, so if you have any old track (or come across any bargains!) you can still use them together. This newer track is actually easier to clip together but it's good to know that the manufacturer has factored in that owners of this track may also have existing collections they wish to use. If you are starting your track collection with this pack then you have the security of knowing that if you pick up an older playset (they are still readily available from many retailers) then you are not going to find it is incompatible.
In a nutshell: Tough track which isn't tough to put together. Enough said!
Added fun for the take along range November 2, 2008 Ibby (London) 4 out of 4 found this review helpful
My son has the take along engine sheds and this extra track is a must to add onto this. Very easy for my two year old to put together and very durable. Comes with adapters so that it can fit the more up to date version of the track that some of the take along sets now come with.
