at best mediocre September 26, 2009 T. E. Roberts 1 out of 7 found this review helpful
i didn't get the appeal of this book, it semed to be written by someone who wants to use his own status and superiority to mock the less fortunate..it's full of crass misnomas and it's hardly a thrilling read either - in fact it's so vague and wishy washy, no one but the hardest of book lovers will be able to fight through page afet page of tedium - will therapists ever go away and stop using there position to boost their ego's?

A must-have May 9, 2009 Annie C (Edinburgh) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A must-have for parents. Just facts, lots of them and manages to reassure without a hint of sentimentality. There are many books to buy but ths should be the first.
Used as a starting point to get info on Aspergers February 5, 2009 J. Murrell (Scotland) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
Bought this book just before we were expecting out 7 year old son to be diagnosed Aspergers. He was, and I have found this book very helpful in trying to understand our new life. I briefly read from cover to cover and then dipped in and out. I am now lending my copy to the school for our sons head teacher and class teacher so that they can finally understand that our sons behaviour is not naughtiness and there is a real reason behind it. There is some stuff in this book which really isn't much use to a non professional but it does answer a lot of questions and gives some strategies and ideas how to cope, and help to see a way forward.
Powerful Tool To Convince Those Who Deal With People With Asperger Syndrome! October 28, 2008 edrm 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I have noticed Asperger's Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals has motivated some parents with AS kids to understand the specifics of AS. And they must have been so relieved, if you ask me! They seemed really surprised to find most of the symptoms applied to their AS kids in this book. Although Asperger's Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals isn't as informative as his most recent book, The Complete Guide to Asperger's Syndrome, both of them will help Aspies and people dealing with them change their attitude toward AS more positively.
Neither of the books include difficult technical jargons and complicated structures. Asperger's Syndrome: A Guide for Parents and Professionals seems a bit old-fashioned to me because it includes more British spellings, but that is a minor inconvenience.
Therefore, how about starting off with this book if you came across people with AS and became diagnosed with AS recently?
