Enjoyable and varied June 26, 2010 M. Pennington (Leeds) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
A wide-ranging collection of well-written newspaper pieces on the theme of railways and rail travel. It will take you all over the world, and back home. It's quite substantial and is keeping me going for quite a while. Recommended, particularly for anyone with an affection for railways.

This book is an attractive companion for any rail enthusiast, especially an armchair traveller during Winter months, when imagination is stimulated. It could also deliver the encouragement and the confidence required to make some adventurous journeys.

A thoroughly enjoyable armchair travel book.I bought this in order to consider some possible rail journeys and it could save me a lot of money !
Very easy to pick up and browse through, although I agree with other comments that some well chosen pictures would have enhanced the overall appeal.

I found it to be a very interesting book and difficult to put down. The joy of it is that you can pick it and put it down without losing the 'thread' as it is a series of articles. I would recommend to any railway buff.

An enjoyable read. It was a pity that there were no illustrations which would have made it even better.
