Oh dear... July 30, 2010 Janine Routley (UK) I read this book based upon the other reviews - I was expecting it to be a real page turner but sadly it wasn't. I found the characters quite hard to engage with - parts of the story were very far fetched and it just didn't gel for me. This was the first Polly Williams book that I have read but I will try and read some of her other books. This book isn't bad it's just that for me it didn't quite tick the boxes of good read.
Warm and witty June 29, 2010 Jimbo (St Albans, Hertfordshire) 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I really enjoyed this book. I couldn't put it down. A little far-fetched in places, but hey - we have enough realism in real life!!! I have read Polly Williams other books and love her style. This is the kind of book I enjoy reading in bed when my concentration is at its lowest, so anything heavy would addle my brain! I would call it a "feel good" book, where you can identify with the main character, Sadie, who is just an ordinary housewife with an ordinary job, not a high-flying career girl with a salary to match. Thank you Polly for a warm and witty book.
Great holiday read June 15, 2010 Gemma Read it on holiday in about two days and loved it. It's quite quirky and unusual, with a very engaging plot and a likeable main character, Sadie. I've read all her other books and this one does not disappoint! More intelligent than your average chick-lit.
Fantastic read June 7, 2010 K. Clarke Another winner from Polly Williams. Warm, believable characters combined with a satisfying story, plenty of romantic twists and turns and some genuinely funny moments.
Can't ask for more!
Read this book! March 31, 2010 M. Gledhill (Paris, France) I bought "How to be married" because I loved "The rise and fall of a yummy mummy". I haven't been disappointed. I absolutely loved it! I loved Sadie's caractere and was so sad to finish the book so quickly! If you liked Polly's other books then you will love this one too!
