Enjoyable read April 22, 2010 L. Anderson (Croxley Green) An easy, enjoyable read that keeps you turning the pages. Ideal for the beach or sunny days in the garden.
3 stars July 8, 2009 C. Rucroft (North Yorkshire, England) Ok, so I read this book fairly quickly. It's your average chick lit and not to taxing - perfect for reading before bed. I did quite enjoy it and was undecided who I wanted Jamie to choose.
So why the three stars? Well, I just found the whole thing to be a bit cheesy and unrealistic. I mean, who meets someone at a train station, buys them new tights and then escorts them home? I'd think they were a wierdo to be honest. And then before we know it they're jumping into bed together? It just doesn't happen. And then there's Pamela, who rather than fight for her husband, has a 'pretend' affair herself! And then ends up sleeping with him too! I wanted her to fight for Jamie, not just lie down and take it!
I'm aware that chick lit does need the reader to have a bit of imagination, but this was a bit much, even for me. I don't think I'd recommend this to anyone.
An enjoyable read! April 2, 2008 Bookworm (North Yorkshire) I bought this book to take with me on holiday and was hooked! I could not put it down, my husband and children couldn't get any sense out of me at all! I think that the situations encountered in the book are real as you can spend a long time commuting and you do meet the same people day in day out. Therefore relationships do flourish! I liked the characters in the book, they were convincing, although I did feel sorry for Terri the main female character as you can't turn your emotions on and off like a tap. However, the ending wasn't what I was expecting, it had a twist to the plot. It was not the ending I imagined!
very enjoyable read September 25, 2007 Mrs. I. Blackwell (Birmingham UK) I very much enjoyed this book and I love Carole Matthew's style of writing. Proper Chick Lit with a few twists and turns. I didn't know whether I wanted Teri to get together with Jamie or not as it meant him having to leave his wife. It had me going until the end.
hmmm started off well... September 18, 2007 amy 1 out of 1 found this review helpful
I had hoped for a saucy affair but it was more realistic of the turmoils of an affair. It did keep me hooked throughout. I know its a fictional book but I found some aspects too unrealistic and some of the characters a bit wet. I was a little disappointed with this book but I think perhaps I was expecting it to go a certain way. worth a read.
